Dr. Gray's presentation fed families where they are hungry. Parents are deeply curious and worried about changes that they perceive in the growth and development of their children in the post-pandemic stage. Parents look to us for help and partnership in parenting. Dr. Gray created a connection with the parents in the room from the outset as she shared easily digestible tips and tools that parents can immediately put into practice. She was able to bridge the gap between home and school and as an educator, I came away feeling validated. We are in fact seeing different readiness in children for them to navigate social settings and understand their emotions and feelings. The handouts that she shared from her presentation included helpful illustrations about the brain science behind the body's response to stress, and the degrees of emotions and regulation. I can't wait to have Dr. Gray back to campus.
